And it's time for another round! Big congratulations to Sudan Red, who is selflessly offering this round up for a friend's birthday! Let's see what we'll be drawing this week.
Hi Toulouse!
Hope I am not pre-empting, but I am inordinately excited about this win as
it is my friend JimX's birthday soon! As with the previous time, I will
choose one of his characters. :)
Thank you so much! :D
~Sudan Red
-------------------
Here's the description:
Ronicus
38 human equivalent years old
6'3"
Ronicus is a male minotaur. His body is basically human, while his head,
feet and tail are those of a bull. His shoulders and chest are covered with
the same coarse, red-brown fur as his head; he also has a diamond-shaped
patch of fur at the base of his tail, almost the full width of his back at
its widest point (the line of his hips), covering the upper half of his
behind and narrowing to a point at the small of his back. The rest of his
body only has normal human amounts of hair; his skin is a medium shade of
brown. A lifetime's hard work on the land has given him a well-built,
muscular body. His tail is about 2' long, and his eyes are dark brown.
Ronicus is a freeman farmer. When he's at work, he'll wear a coarse brown
tunic and leggings, a straw hat, and a pair of heavy boots. For formal
occasions, he has a plain white cotton robe, fastened with a multi-coloured
cloth belt, and a pair of silver rings for his horns.
Ronicus is competent and conscientious at his work, shrewd if unimaginative
in his buisness dealings, and generally happy with his lot in life.

Sounds like lots of fun! And Sudan, I hope your friend likes what our talented forum folks will come up with :)

Oh I think I know this guy (at least on-line). Does your friend also have a winged wolf named Ishiroch, Sudan?
And really want to do a picture back for you, but a minotaur?? Oh no, hope I can pull this off. Lot different than anything I'd done before. Hehe.

Yay! I've been reading the newer Richard Knaak Minotaur Wars (though so far I'm a little frustrated with it). I also love these creatures since becoming acquainted with Kaz. Good old Kaz...and in reading this book with the various descriptions of the different characters I've been considering doing some art in that vein. This is a great kick-in-the-pants to get me sketching!

Yay! I'm so glad you guys seem so enthused! I'm practically skipping (if I weren't sitting down)!
KoOkY - Why, yes! He does! :D How did you know? Have you done art for him before? (PS thanks for fixing the link)
Thornwolf - Awesomesauce! Your mythical beasties are lovely!
Vizon - Hurrah for kicks-in-the-pants! :) I also find myself irresistably drawn to drawing (hahah no pun intended) any book I'm currently reading. I'm busy reading the Chronicles of Narnia and am just looking for an excuse to draw fauns.
Karu - *chants* GOGOGOGO! */chants*
Wolfreign - I will settle for one! XD
Oh man, I am so excited! :D Here is an extra reference pic that JimX insisted on! :) Apparently one can see the difference between his animal and man bits better in this.

Actually I have! http://kooky.jaxpad.com/image/10624 Small world. Hehe. I don't know him super well, just through FA really. Tell him I said hello though and will try drawing his minotaur though not to expect anything good. ;)

So, I had no idea what I was doing when it came to drawing minotaurs, or cattle for that matter. So I decided to focus on the head/face. It was a good learning experience. =)
I think I've only ever tried to draw one bovine ever, so considering my significant lack of experience, I'm pretty happy with the results. =)
Oh, and P.S. I also have no idea what I'm doing in my outdated, gimped-out version of photoshop. So I just kinda use it like I'm painting or something. =P

Thanks, SR! I wasn't gonna go for that kinda thing at first, but then I remembered the whole reason I'm trying to get back into drawing is that I want to improve, and in that case, I need to stretch myself and do things I've not done before. So I'm glad you like it. =)

Sorry it's not much, just a floating head :) Couldn't resist doing a little something for this character though, minotaurs are pretty cool and it's been a long time since I have attempted to draw one. I am also happy that my wacom drivers that I haven't been able to get to work on XP for the longest time are working now :D

Thornwolf, that sketch is amazing. I wish my *finished* pieces looked that fab. =D And that is totally a minotaur pose, all like, "That's right, I'm huge. What of it?"
