Celty's Sketchbook

I've been meaning to start one of these up for a while now. By all means, critique if you wish. I can't guarantee I'll finish everything I post here, but I can at least file away suggestions for future use.

This one's a quick concept sketch from over the summer. I kinda like the general idea of it..I may yet develop it into something.

These are some silly sketches from the Royal Winter Fair from last October.

Assorted bat characters (last August). Was thinking of developing a story centered around bats for school, but ended up going with deep sea fish instead. Because what's cooler than deep sea fish :D

I should probably finish this. I discovered its head is like, in exactly the same position as another drawing I did years ago though, which kinda put me off.

From November/Decemberish. Was trying to figure out (mainly) feline anatomy a little better.

Quick little gift for a friend of her character, Banter.

Another, sketchier gift. It was supposed to be a turquoiseish loris, but, uh..it kinda failed XD

And another gift. The anatomy on this is horrible. I had a brain fart about how to draw front shoulders/legs, so attempted to hide the mistake with gratuitous textures. THE TEXTURES. THEY WILL FIX EVERYTHING :|

An aforementioned deep sea fish. Just a quickie, 10 minutes or so.

I seem to be having problems caricaturing and cartooning deep sea critters..anyone have any suggestions? As far as reference goes, I've been looking at photos, of course, and Finding Nemo/Flotsam and Jetsam.

I had a dream earlier this week with this guy in, and I've been drawing him a lot ever since. This was the first sketch I did after I woke up.

And this is a WIP I'll hopefully finish over the weekend. After fixing the hideous attempt at anatomy of his back leg, that is.

More quick sketches. I need to sketch in Photoshop more, I like the whole not-having-to-scan thing.

Will some of these help? http://digimorph.org/listthumbs.phtml?grp=fish&name=CommonName I don't see any deep sea eels that I know of, but there is a coelacanth and other long fishes you can rotate around to get some good perspective on them and see good ways to exaggerate this or that.

Spent about 20-30 minutes sketching. I'd like to do more but homework's hanging over my head threatening to smite me.

Another doodle. I'm still trying to figure out his colorings and the extent of his mane.

Super quick sketch (about two minutes) with some color slapped on as an apology for taking so long with a commission.

I'm tempted to go back and fix the eyes because they're..hideous. I don't know what's happened to my eye drawing mojo as of late :[

3 minute life drawing. It has its issues.

1 minute gesture. My preferred out of the two.

I might post more life drawings later..I might not. I'm not all that strong in the subject..although I guess that'd be a good reason to post examples here.
