A friend of mine that draws rather well actually makes himself up a schedule of what to practice and when. From different parts of the body, hair, clothing, expressions, etc. I dunno if I could go that far with it but sounds like an interesting idea. But yeah so many things to work on and none of it is coming easy. :P Unfair! Hehe.

I know exactly what you mean- there's so much to practice, but it's so hard to know where to start! I'm going to try to tackle a bunch of stuff this summer- should be interesting to see what happens XD Aaaaand I dug up another sketch- another comic character concept, but from a different comic project- Toby's storyline. This is Sammy the telephone operator (clichéd name, I know- but I have a reason for it.) Her hands bug me, but other than that I don't think the sketch turned out too badly.

w00t! I am back! Took a break from several sites for awhile, since my school year was getting waaaay too crazy. But now it's done! Thanks, Kooky! I really love drawing clothing wrinkles, since they're always fun and a challenge :D Just a couple sketches to post for now; first off is the sketch for a piece that has been stuck in WIP mode for several months XD

Wow the clothing wrinkles and folds kick butt though!! I really wish I could do that kinda stuff. I love messing with clothing and outfits and such but you really need to master the art of drawing folds/drapery/etc. to pull off anything good. :P Nice job!

Thanks, Celty! My apologies for the late response- I've been incredibly busy lately, and my activity here has suffered because of of it. Not much to post for now, but I do have a WIP for a school project- a manga project. My lack of enthusiasm probably shows in the poor anatomy (did no research/posing whatsoever XD) the messy inking, and I'm sure in several other components as well. Manga just fails to excite me. However, I'm planning to redo this piece (once I have some time) and do it in my own style and work more on balancing the pose and such.

Scribbled up an icon for my last.fm page, and aside from the issues with her jaw, I like how it came out :D On a side note, I haven't abandoned the sword-fighting-stance piece that I posted those gestures for in the critique section, I've just been forced to set it aside for a short while.

Looks pretty good to me except it seems (his?) arm that is holding the book is held out a little far for comfort. I mean, if this character was swinging his arms back and forth mid-walk, it might work, but for just a casual wave, I'd bring his arm down a little so he looks a little more relaxed.

You're right, it does look rather awkward- I'll be sure to fix that asap!

But if you're going for a more natural look--just joe-smith-character, waving a hello--then Vizon could be right about loosening the arm a bit.

Yeah, this is more of what I'm going for- it's just for a character sheet, so I wanted a pose that was simple, but more than the character just standing there.

Other than that, I'd say the one thing that jumped out at me was his pointing/waving hand. The way you have it, it looks like the wrist is joined into the side of the hand, and the bottom of the hand (the part that should be joined to the wrist) appears to come up along the side of the hand, and from there extend into a thumb. Hold up your hand in the same pose, it doesn't quite look the same. I'm not good at critiquing, so I hope this made sense and that you found it helpful. =)

Firstly, love the sketches! Very nice. =) Secondly, am I wrong, but are you going for a kind of over-the-top strut'n'wave pose, sorta '50s health class video style? I hope that makes sense (you know, those weird little 20 minute educational videos from the 50s that they make fun of on MST3K?). Just a little doodle for fun- more of my Irish fox, Jack (I still haven't finished the drunken sketch, though XD). Dunno whether I like this or not- I guess I like it as a whole, but there's little things all over that bug me :/ So, critiques welcome (for future reference), even though it's just a doodle^^

And these are photos of sketches (done on canvases gessoed with watery gesso, oops) from my last project of the semester, which I never finished and will probably now paint digitally from these rather than try to finish the actual paintings- they got rather screwed up and I have no desire to finish them, yet I want to use the sketches for something. So digital painting it shall be. The anthro wolf(the same one who is my avatar)'s pose was referenced from one of my own figure drawings (as can be seen above^^)

I got sick of waiting for the weather to get nice so I could spray fixative on these and scan them, so I took photos. Figure drawings from art class last semester, in charcoal- probably my best one is the one on top, and worst is the other girl; and the one guy's face was sort of intentionally done to look weird (we weren't actually supposed to be drawing the faces, but I felt like playing with a few shadows ;D)
