Hello everyone once again for yet another installment of the Trading Post! When we last left our intrepid heroes, Inali had ended up with the top place last week among so many great entries from all of you! Just getting better and better.
This time around, the character is.. herself! I think I'll let her do the talking, as it's quite a bit! :)
Wow!! What a cool thing to wake up to. :) I won, and there were so many fantastic pictures last week! Well guys, I want you all to have a *ton* of fun doing this one, so just be creative! :)
Anyways...here is a description about me. I'll use my own commission form that I give my clients, as it is very detailed, and so is my character... which I *highly* apologize for. :(
INALI M. KE'ALOHA
Gender: Female
Species: Xelorian (alien!)
Anthro or Non-Anthro: Anthro
Body Type (i.e., fat, bishounen, buff, skinny): Inali is rather thin, but has some muscle tone. Not much, don't make her buff! Just a nice muscle tone for a girl.
Height: 5' 8-1/2"
Main Fur Color: Cerulean (that awesome glowing blue-green color... more blue than green... none of my references are accurate to the color)
Markings: You guys are going to *kill* me... but no worries, I provided references! :) Inali has *many* markings. The most noticeable is what looks like a black raccoon mask over her eyes. The top part of her muzzle is black and comes to a point just above her eyebrows. The front tips of both her upper and lower muzzle are also tipped black. The rest of the muzzle is a soft blue/almost white. Her ears are tipped black. Her forearms/hands are black (like foxes) and in the middle of her upper arm, she has a stripe that wraps around each arm but just barely meets in the middle as it overlaps itself. On her legs, she has an identical stripe wrapping around each upper thigh that barely meets in the middle as it overlaps itself. Her calves and feet are black. She also has a stripe starting from her back and wrapping around both sides of her abdomen, barely meeting in the middle. This probably won't be drawn...but she has what kind of looks like a maned wolf's black mane from the base of her skull to the middle of her shoulder blades, but the fur isn't necessarily long, except for the long neck fur. Her tail has a single, black stripe that spirals down the tail to the tip. Her neck fur, chest fur (which is VERY poofy), and belly fur is a very soft blue, almost white in color. Her...ahem...pubic area, inner thighs, buttocks (not like you'll be DRAWING that), and underside of her tail are a vivid purple. She has black claws and her inner ears are a soft pink and a black nose.
Eye Color: Right eye is blue, left eye is green
Paw pad Color: Soft pink! :)
Hair Color (if any): BRIGHT neon pink
Hair Style (if any): Hangs to her middle back, kind of naturally wavy from the middle to the end (like Julia's from Cowboy Bebop <3). Long, layered bangs in the front.
Clothing (if any): A sarong that wraps around her waist (called an "ula" in her country) and hangs to her knees... it kind of slants upwards towards one side (can't really describe it... I don't care if this is accurate). She wears a simple cloth around her breasts that ties in the back. Sarong and chest cloth can be any color.
Extras (wings, horns, jewelry, etc): JEWELRY: A purple gem is embedded in her forehead. She usually wears golden hooped earrings at the top of her ears. She can also be featured wearing metallic, golden jewelry and all sorts of tribal bracelets, anklets, and necklaces. She also has disks in her ears (those huge disks that tribal people wear), two in her left, one in her right.
NOTE: Her ears are HUGE!! Think bat ears. Her tail is incredibly large and fluffy. Her eyes are large and almond shaped. Shorter muzzle... but not domestic cat short... but not canine long either. Somewhere in the middle. :)
Please provide me with image references if possible (URL is fine):
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a383/spiritcreations/Inali/inali2.jpg - From Uayken..the most ACCURATE image of all. FANTASTIC job on the ears in thinness of the ears and size. I put a quick bikini on her in 15 seconds and made the underside of the tail purple for reference. :)
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a383/spiritcreations/Inali/inali1.jpg - Munkart drew this. :) Underside of tail should be purple.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a383/spiritcreations/Inali/inali3.jpg - A fun little pirate version of Inali. Leg anatomy is wrong...legs should be thicker and feet much larger.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a383/spiritcreations/Inali/inali4.jpg - A really craptastic reference of Inali I did a few years ago. lol
FOR XELORIAN FEET: Here is a good reference to the thickness, size, and power of Xelorian feet. They are not so large that they look like funny clown feet or are disproportionate, but they sure are big. X3 Our ankles are really thick. This is a commission I did for Mikau, who wanted to be drawn as a Xelorian. :) http://spiritcreations.artspots.com/image/11838 Cute feet!!
Alrighty... and for what to draw Inali doing and her personality. Inali is incredibly friendly and compassionate, but at the same time she can be incredibly blunt (but tactful!) and opinionated at times. She does have a very short temper and has to go first in everything. Honestly, just look up the personality of an Aries.. and that is Inali. *g* She's a leader, a bit bossy (but has learned how to share), incredibly persistent, a go-getter, stubborn, impulsive, and self-confident. She also loves to give people surprises (like gifts..not pranks), do nice things for others, and make everyone feel really awesome about themselves. She loves nature, fire, water, storms, and wind. Inali is athletic and bouncy. Inali lives in the jungles of an alien tropical island called Kavua. It's a lush, beautiful rainforest that has never been touched by civilization. The natives are fiercely intelligent and peaceful people, and their culture is much like if you mixed Mayan and Hawai'ian together, but with a vastly different spirituality. So, draw Inali doing jungle and/or tropical island things! :) You can draw her hunting (although her people are strict vegans...they hunt for ill and injured animals that can't hunt for themselves... she would have a spear, most likely), relaxing in a hot spring, tree surfing (totally stole that idea from Disney's Tarzan..it looked fun!), canoing down a waterfall, surfing, etc. :) You decide! It can be humorous, sweet, spiritual..whatever. :) An action pose, a pin-up pose, whatever you want! :D Just go have fun!!!
Wow! A whole lot to work with here. Get those pencils, pens and styluses and, as Inali said, go have fun!

Don't worry! I've got something.
I probably made the ears and feet too small, and I'm not sure how I like the coloring, but I hope you like it!

Are there annoying insects on her planet? Thorns and weeds? Any technology?

*NOTE: LONG POST (as you can see)*
OH YEAH!!! Especially on Kavua. There is a bug that KIND of looks like a spider... but it's about the size of a freakin' Labrador. X3 It has legs all the way around...like a really round centipede. They're friendly creatures though. :D
There are also glow bugs, which are like fireflies... and mosquito-like things that are about triple the size of our mosquitos with REALLY long legs. :( They bite bad. Of course, I won't list the entire insect list to ya. :D That'd take up too much room. You can be creative with bugs, I might adopt the design for my novel! :D
As for technology, not on Kavua. Kavua is *extremely* primitive. They don't even have electricity there. However, like the Mayans, they have their own technology. If you want to know specifics about that, let me know. :) As for the planet itself, yes, there is technology and it is very similar to Earth. Xelorians aren't ahead or behind of our own species when it comes to technology. :D There are planes and internet and cars and all that good stuff. Rarely, a plane will fly over Kavua (simply because it's out in the middle of the Marianic Ocean).
Noooooooow...plant life and animal life, and really anything pertaining to Kavua. I'll just copy and paste some footnotes from my novel about Kavua for ya. :)
1 The Kavuan “city” consists of many areas. The main area is where the tribes’ people come during the day to converse and be with one another. Celebrations, dancing, and rituals are performed in the main city, and where all the main temples are kept. The huts are to the north of the main court, ball courts and theaters are to the east, and the ocean to the south. The rainforest surrounds all of these locations.
2 [Laba'o tree] Similar to a palm tree. Bears a delicious orange and green fruit that is almost too sweet to eat. This fruit is hard to peel but worth the effort. Kavuan’s will make a sugary paste out of the sticky sap this fruit offers, which they add to many recipes and beverages to cure that sweet tooth.
----
1 The Ring is a ring that formed around the planet Xelaros, and contains many dust particles, ice, rocks, and gases. It slowly rocks back and forth on its axis as it shifts up and down as Xelaros rotates and spins on its own axis, so the Ring is not always present in the night sky, as it is always moving, and some places on Xelaros never have the opportunity to see it. The Ring will stay in the skies for approximately 3 months until it shifts on its axis, and will disappear for 3 months before returning again.
----
4 Lana'loa is an active volcano on Kavua's main island, the island in which the tribe resides. Usually seen calm and smoking, it has not erupted in one hundred and seventy-three years. Many Kavuan stories revolve around Lana'loa and its importance in the history of Kavua, and the volcano is highly respected.
----
1 An ala’kai is a type of san[aquatic creature], which has a long body, exoskeleton, twenty small legs, and four sets of pinchers. They are hard to catch, but delicious to eat, and come in a variety of colors and subspecies.
2 Okana are a type of san measuring eight to ten feet in length, and are generally bluish-green in color. They possess a large sail fin on top of their bodies and large fins for swimming. They are known for being very friendly and playful with other sea creatures, and have been known to protect swimmers from dangerous aquatic creatures. However, they are still wild animals, and one can easily forget this fact.
3 Janai weed is a bright orange, flowering herb consisting of psychoactive properties which cause altered sensations, altered thoughts, and a general feeling of elation. Janai weed is also used for many medicinal purposes and is illegal in most countries. The herb itself is harmless and does not contain any additives, however, the feeling the weed can give you can become rather addicting. Janai weed is grown throughout the world and there are many different hybrids of this plant, some being harder to find than others. Kavuan janai is not known throughout the world, although if it were, it would sell for a very high price, as it has a juicy, pleasant taste of sweet berries and does not leave one groggy. The Kavuans smoke janai mainly during ceremonies and celebrations, however, they do sometimes smoke it for entertainment purposes, as well. The Kavuans grow and harvest this weed year round.
5 [Nature's Wire] A type of thin, strong, wiry vine that grows on trees.
6 Papulo are small, hooved herbivores that live in the high mountains of Kavua. They stand only three feet at the shoulder. They are bright tan in color with a variety of cream and black markings. The males sport long, curly horns while the females carry short, stubby horns. They are gentle creatures.
----
2 Wali are a type of large nut grown from water palms, and also provide milk and oil. One should be careful while drinking the milk from a wali, as it is a natural laxative. Wali shells are also used for instruments, decorations, and playing games. Wali hurt if they land on one’s head.
4 Ipu are a type of melon-like fruit with a thick, edible outer shell. There are many types of ipu, and they are not native to just Kavua.
7 [Olox'ipu] A type of large ipu, which is a fruit with a hard, yet edible outer shell, that grows on thick vines. Olox’ipu are very sweet and abundant with water and juices. The vines from this fruit are used to make ropes, clothing, baskets and more.
8 Tekeka are large, hooved herbivores donning a cream, black and white coat and medium length tails. They sport short, straight horns. The female’s coat will turn a tawny red in the fall which is a sign that they are ready to mate.
----
I hope that helps! :D

WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is GORGEOUS!!!!! I loooooove the blue! That's very close to her color. :D Great job on the hair and the disks in the ears are AWESOME! I just love the pose and the back view, it's truly absolutely wonderful. The sarong is gorgeous and I have a sarong in just that color! X3 The ears and feet *could* be bigger (ears double the size) but that's okay..this picture is so gorgeous that it doesn't matter! ^-^ I just love the texture and feel of this piece! I seem to have a bit of a smile on my face, so it appears to me as if I'm just relaxing on the beach, listening to the ocean ebb and flow. :D
Thank you so much!!! :D

Goodness! This took awhile, but was a lot of fun. I'd like to work on it a bit more(finally getting the hang of Photoshop painting) but I should be nursing this flu bug I have. :X
So, here's Inali. Relaxing on a vine after spending the day surfing, clearly coming off of an adrenaline rush. :D

WOOOOOOOWWWWW!!! That's AWESOME!!! XD I love my expression. I look so happy to be tired and exhausted! I honestly don't know what to say... I'm speechless. *I* am speechless...that never happens. :) I just love the pose and how limp I am from my day of surfing. The background is really awesome too and you captured the colors of Kavua beautifully. :) Again...thank you SO much. *hugs* That is truly an incredible piece. :)
