The 'links' section of the Artspots library seems awfully sparse! I thought I would start a thread for posting useful goodies for inspiration and study. Here's what I've got so far.

WetCanvas - a huge online community dedicated to all kinds of media, full of useful tutorials on every subject organized by medium.

Cartoon Brew - A blog that is all about what's happening in cartoons, with regular links to classic animation resources and stuff.

Drawn - Like Cartoon Brew, but for drawings and still images!

Wooster Collective - A blog dedicated to graffiti artwork.

Streetsy - It's like Wooster Collective part two!

Gesture Drawing for Animation - an entire book in several downloadable .pdf parts!

ImagineFX magazine's downloadable workshops - Tons of tutorials all about how to make pretty pictures with computer machines!

Computer Arts also has a huge collection of downloadable tutorials.

CGSociety Reader Projects - Another great repository of tutorials and walkthroughs from CG industry professionals.

Balaa has compiled a very useful collection of tutorials having to do with how paint fur digitally.

Traditional pencil shading techniques tutorial.

Edit: Here's a few more, harvested from CGTalk.

GFXartist.com's feature tutorials.

Using light and dark to convey form.

A huge, huge set of essays on color theory.

A handful of digital painting tutorials.

How light behaves - handy for knowing how to use color.

Dani Draws - Tutorials for illustrators.

Some thoughts on smooth blending in photoshop.

Painting skin details with photoshop.

Painting hair volumes with photoshop.

I'll post more as I track them down. Post yours if you've got 'em!

Thank you for validating me!

http://www.paintermagazine.co.uk/ Is another for the forums and possibly the tutorial files online, they don't put the magazine workshops up like Imagine but still may be useful :) With Imagine the workshops are usually fairly behind the magazine but there's been quite a few good uns recent months.

http://www.good-tutorials.com/ This place has many useful things hidden in, it is basically a hosting place for tutorials on random stuff but you can find things on digital programs, painting, art, techniques, and other useful bits, I love it, I just wish I was on cables I'd look around on it more.

http://www.atoptics.co.uk/ atmospheric optics, its about light reflections and that sort of thing, could be useful, I look through it once when contemplating shadows and water.

http://www.guidetooilpainting.com/shadows.html Yeah, I am still looking at this myself, you may think... oil painting? But I'm a digital! HOGwash I say, besides its got useful information on shadows and other things...

http://www.polykarbon.com/tutorials/index.htm I've had this link for a long time, there's a few useful things floating around in here, and some basic concepts and techniques, it's what you can use to adapt for your own knowledge base.

(someone below linked concept already but this thread here is one particularly that you should look at, from start to finish this guy never gave up, from student to a teacher!)

I have more links floating around.. but hell they are unorganized, asto rocks because his are well.. organized... IF I find anything really useful I will edit my post and add more.

Oh! I do say if someone does find some MONITOR calibration links, post them those would be very useful for all of us who only paint digital and I can't profess how important it is that your monitor's brightness and contrast are correct, the best pages for testing that though would have to have black backgrounds though as most sites are stupid and put white around the gray scale test and all of that which interferes with your eyesight. If I find the one I used to calibrate mine I will post it.

Aye it was, damn UK licencing laws.

The above is an interesting one being constantly updated. It seeks to catalogue every existing critter from the elephants to the single cell and virus to become one giantic resource which is great.

At the time of typing though, all the traffic has caused it to go down but having a look ealier was really interesting :) Good luck to them I say.

It's a giant database of copyright-free media, including a plethora of photos of different animals and people, plus the occasional anatomical diagram.
