We are a new site, indeed, and have a lot of different ways in which we can grow. Sound off, and let us hear what you think, what you like and what you do not like. Is there anything that feels a little 'off' or that you feel can be improved? Then tell us! We are always open to new ideas, even if we cannot follow through on each and every one.
To start this off, what kind of things would you like to see on this site? Have you encountered any problems or questions so far?

I for one am incredibly impressed by the amount of care and consideration that this site has. Seurat your attention to the community and the detail is impeccable. Since this is my first post I have yet to see any bugs within the forum itself but im sure in time we'll find them if they are there. I have a really really good feeling about this place. Keep up the good work.

I'd like to see the "New Topic" and "Post Reply" buttons situated at the bottom of the boards, too. : )
And that's all my brain can think of at the moment, therefore it is time that I echo what the other two have said: Very impressive! *lessthanthree*
I'll definitely make more suggestions as they come to me.

You know what? This is how the whole thing is supposed to be done. Quick turn-around, listening and implimenting what the community wants and needs, and doing it all with a friendly smile.
Well done.

I agree with everyone so far! Love it, love it, love it!
This place is awesome and I can't wait to see where things go from here. I'm so enthusiastic it's not even funny. Congratulations on developing this place, and THANK YOU! =)
EDIT- ooh, I know: signatures! we need signatures so we can adequately express our wholesome, lovable, and charming geekiness to the world.

Hello everyone. I really like the design of this site and I hope it takes off. One thing that I did notice is that when I was using the Mozilla Firefox browser to look at the forums, I couldn't get to the actual posts. For instance, I could click on the Group "ArtSpots News" but when I tried to click on the topic "Welcome to Artspots!" nothing happened. I switched to internet explorer and everything started working fine. Just a small complaint, but otherwise this site looks really great.

Loving this so far. Glad to see you listening to your community. :) Much awesome.
Looks good so far. I like that you're keeping the forums simple in terms of boards. You can always add new ones later as the interest may arise! :)

I agree with everyone. However, it would be nice to be able to see the different applications that are being reviewed so that I can see what sort of things I should and shouldn't do when applying. Is it easy or difficult to get in? What sort of quality control is there?
Heedless, I am probably going to create new work for my application. No sense in throwing up old stuff.
Oh - and I do sculptures too. Should I put sculptures in my application?
I am loving this site so far. Keep it up! OH OH OH ---- And DON'T forget to BACK UP your server in case it randomly crashes one day. ;P

I'm with Vizon on open-to-view apps, as it'd not only promote transparency but be a great source of material to learn from, as I find being a third party to a critique affords a great unattached perspective, and is a good way to pick up things.
Love the layout of the site, it's good and simple and easy to navigate, although the ability to view previous messages in the thread while replying would be good. It's great to see a site that dynamically changes with needs. Wonderful job!
Edit: Oh, regarding Arlene's problem with viewing threads using Firefox, I'm using Firefox version 1.5.0.7, and haven't had any issues with that there. It might be a version thing?

Hello everyone, nice place you have here. :D
I second the option for signatures. If possible it would be nice to restrict the size of images in the sigs to something reasonable just so we don't end up with those sigs that fill up half the screen with text and images.
You wouldn't have to host the signature images. I think a lot of people are used to using off site hosting like photobucket and if not we can always redirect them that way.
I can't think of anything else just yet but I'm sure I'll mention it if I do. ;)

Ah we need smilies! It's a visual orientated website so we need smilies. :D

Thirded for the applciation views, how about asking if a user is willing to show theirs since I'm sure there will be a few who might feel they might not want to. This way it would also help everybody without using a "You must show your application!" thing.
And yes on the back-ups, always say a date and back-up a day ealier so the server cant pull a crash before :) Also yes for sigs, a small banner orsome little text is always a nice little thing for those who choose to use it.

Would it be possible to implement a pageviews/comments feature, where the artist can check up on their own stats? I'm not saying they need to be public..but perhaps the pageviews could be done like VCL used to, where they were per picture and gallery views, but kept private, simply for statistical purposes. I don't really like the public view thing, as it makes it seem like a popularity contest.. but it is also very handy for me personally to know where I'm getting the most hits, and what work is the most viewed.
And so far as the comments.. could there be a comment inbox, like dA/FA has, so I could just check them on Artspots rather than have them emailed to me?
Nice work, though! :3

This is seriously looking to be a great site/combo site with jaxpad! I really love the overall setup and features, very well thought out!
Signatures would be fun, but I do think there should definately be a hard limit for the size of them, possibly limit to text-only, or at least restrict them to a set size image. Don't want them to get annoying.
As for smilies, It would be nice to have them as optional, but personally, I absolutely hate how places like DA automatically translates =) into a little image, in most cases, I would much prefer to just have the text-based smily. But if it was something you could choose to use if you want, without force-changing them from the text version, it'd be really cool. It might even be neat to have a system where people can submit their own smilies for everyone to use if they are approved.

Heh! funny you mention that. At any given time, we have four copies of the database, no less than a day old, on both US coasts. :) Yes, our admin can be a little overzealous.
Keovi:

Others have brought up this point, it's one that we've thought over and initially decided not to put in, just for the reason you mentioned -- we do not like popularity contests. We do keep track of that information, it's just not shown, so it wouldn't be a problem to enable it. However, I think statistics tracking would be more apt to be put into ArtTools once that's going. Although I'm going to have to leave you guessing on what that means for now. :)
And so far as the comments.. could there be a comment inbox, like dA/FA has, so I could just check them on Artspots rather than have them emailed to me?
Working on it. We do not want to do it the way FA/DA does, which is it's own internal messaging system. That's rather redundant, really, since the comments are already in the system. Not to mention we want to make sure the UI is nice. Expect that shortly.
Everyone:
Signatures - Working on them. There will be a whole 'Forum Options' thing under your account with things like signatures, forum title, etc.
Smileys - If we do have them, the user will have the option to either enable them or disable them. We like choices. Although we do not have any graphics for them. So if anyone is up to doing fuzzy versions, 32x32 pixels (that look good at 16x16), we'd definitely use them. I'll admit, graphical smilies are not that high a priority at the moment. :)
Thanks for everyone's patience. There will be more things in the forums such as page jumping, etc. Keep in mind we are building this from scratch, code-wise. :)
