Looking for Coding help

I like to do things by myself for the most part. I suppose this is what happens when one is raised on a farm for part of their lives. ;) But in this case I am no expert in PHP or such.

I'm looking to redesign and refocus my professional web site. I am working on the design, I just need help with functionality. I don't have money to pay for this, but I am willing to offer up some kind of trade to help compensate for the work. Not sure who'd be willing to jump on this boat or not.

So if anyone is interested, let me know.

I can't code a whole site, but if you have questions or need snippets of code, I would be happy to help. I work in web-programming, so I've gotten proficient in php. I'm actually in the process of making myself a personal site over the course of my winter break.

If you want to learn the language, it's not that bad. If you're already familiar with HTML, w3schools has a great tutorial to get you started. (http://www.w3schools.com/PHP/php_intro.asp) Also, the documentation for php is really good (http://www.php.net) if you get to a point that you want the more complex functionality. It does help to have a bit of a basic programming background.

I know enough PHP to get around. Works mostly like C++ except that you don't need to declare variable types :P.

Just here for the community.

And once you've looked at what Iziem has mentioned you might want to take a look at frameworks like CakePHP or Codeigniter. They have documentation on how to use them.

*nods* Just trying to get the site to be more "Web 2.0", iffin ya know what I mean. I don't want to revert to a blog to be honest, and most content management systems are heavy and huge. I like playing with CSS and coming up with interesting ways to display the site, but learning how to skin sites like say a wordpress blog, just adds to the complexity of the back end coding. They have a lot of special php tags that you have to take into account.

A "Static" site is fine by me, as the only regularly updating feature may be my art lj and the gallery. Those I can find ways to plug into my site.

But I'd like to add a more secure contact form, a "new art" block that updates when my on-site gallery has new content, a date-specific skinner (it changes the CSS link depending on date/time), and maybe a membership login so folks can get to protected content. That is a bit beyond me.
