Uncle Scotty needs hind legs!! Help!!

Sign up or login to post a reply.

Please help Uncle Scotty and I !! Uncle Scotty is in dire need of hind legs, and I'm in dire need of help with drawing him some. I especially need help with them in this position. So, feel free to somehow draw on this picture to show me, draw another picture to show me, or simply tell me. (Pictures are GREATLY appreciated!!!)

And if there is any other advise you can give... Please do so! :D

Well, is that supposed to BE a scotty, or is Uncle Scotty just his name (or both)? Because the head looks almost nothing like a scotty, and neither does the body, really. A scotty should have long, shaggy hair, especially on the limbs and the underside of the belly. The fur should also be long on the lower side of the face and on the eyebrows, giving it the "old man" look. Also, a scotty's head would be bigger and more blocky.

I can't help you with a redline, though, and can't help with the legs. Sorry for giving none of the help you wanted, and all of the critique you didn't ask for!

No, he's not a Scottish terrier. Actually he's kinda more of a, collie. Er, of sorts. X\ He doesn't look like it in most of my pictures of him, but once in a while I'll draw him in his Rough collie, form... I'm not sure what he is in this picture. XD And Uncle Scotty is just his name. I also just drew this picture for the purpose of posting it for hind leg help. But, thanks anyhow. :)

This below is him (I guess :\) in collie form.

Ohhh, I've never edited something before! Please forgive me everyone, I've made some mistakes on it myself, but here's what I'd probably do:

Feel free to post something better.^^

I've never been great with words to explain stuff, so here is a red line. I'm not a expert on canine run cycles. So, I'm sure there are more knowledgeable artists who could explain or draw the pose you are looking for, better than me, but sometime you learn something better if you teach it. So I hope this is some help to you. The green line I put in there is because I think that his front legs need to be repositioned a little bit and the purple line is the ground, for my own reference. I don't have any pictures to show you but, I found a video of a dog running. This may give you an idea how the legs move in relation to each other.

I don't think the back legs would be in the same position like that; it kinda makes him look like he's touching down after a leap rather than running! I'm pretty sure they would be more splayed, like the front legs, or at least not so symmetrical. Sorry, I do not know much about that kind of anatomy though, so I can't give you a redline :P

Well Fru, actually touching down after a leap was the position I wanted... I do agree that if he was running, the legs wouldn't look as aligned, but, I was actually wanting a jumping type pose, so... But, thanks for giving your input anyways. :)

Oh whoops! Thanks for pointing that out Fru! Upon further investigation, I went back and redrew the left leg and realized that you are right. How embarrassing, but then again we learn from our mistakes. However, it seems I got the point across regardless, even if it wasn't the one I was going for.

Glad I help you anyway, even though technically I was wrong.

Ah, okay. Never mind, then =)
