I'm guessing this is where everyone is supposed to jump in and say, "Oh no! Say it isn't so!". The cold, hard fact is, if you really want to make art, you'd be doing it regardless of what anyone says, and it's not like there's a shortage of furry artists out there. If there's something else you'd rather be doing that makes you happy, that's probably what you should be doing.

That's. . . Well, sad. To me, anyway. I always feel sad when I see folk say that they never want to create again.
But, honestly? That's not really a bad thing. Do you have anything else you feel passionate about? Go for that, instead. If not, you need to find what it is you feel passionate about. : )
Artists wouldn't really be able to stop creating, even if they 'wanted to'. It's just what they do. If you aren't feeling the desire to create, or even feel burdened when you try to, then it probably just isn't what you should be doing.
Best of wishes to you in finding what it is that you really want to do. : )

To me, the most unfortunate thing about this is that you never really tried in the first place. Like many other things (and unlike some others), it generally isn't something you just 'get' straight off (not counting the extremely rare few who do), but something you work at over a lifetime. If it's just discouragement, you'll probably find yourself back at it sometime (everyone has those moments). If it really isn't something for you, then all the best in whatever else you move on to =)

A note - You don't have to be an artist to appreciate art. You can still hang out and watch other artists and find art prints you really dig without being an artist yourself. Kind of like how lots of people listen to and appreciate and buy music, even if they themselves cannot play an instrument or are even tone deaf.

you know what. thats ususally what keeps people from continuing something they think they like. Maybe this individual didn't take the time to practice properly. They probably jumped right into a final illustration instead of sitting down and doing study drawings to develope some more understanding on drawing.

Nothing like a 24hour hiatus to bring one back refreshed, eh wot? Please refrain from bringing drama to an otherwise pleasant forum. Either you cut it or you don't. Either you work at something and get better, or you don't. Whining has never helped anyone.

Another thing is to note whether or not you are enjoying yourself with art. Sometimes a part of you just wants to see the art be formed on paper. Whether or not those who view agree or disagree with the way you draw things is irrelevant. Also those who have the monetary means that can hire someone usually want to go that avenue, but in the long run commissions aren't actually cheap if you want someone who is responsible enough to stick to a schedule. Sometimes you're the one who has to come up with the image yourself and if you're comparing yourself to a trained professional, you're never going to reach that goal.
So just enjoy what you wanted to do with art.

Really, huh I find that works well because I prefer to set a goal really high so I continue to see myself improve I prefer to never think I've reached my limit because if you couldn't see yourself improve anymore it would just be boring because that's the fun part:)

Something I have found out over the many years of life and that is. We judge our worst by everyone elses best. I'm trying my hand at story writing, mind you my last english class was in high school in 1976.
I can turn metal and wood into most anything I want. I can design it, draft it, then build it. Yet to sketch things that are artsy I fall on my face. Again my last art class was in 1974. But I'm not going to let that stop me from trying to have fun with it.
I see some of the work on here and I'm in awe of what they have done. If art is your hobby do it to enjoy it, do it to relax, do to to poke fun at your self. Most of all do it to have fun with it! It's the same reason I'm getting back into writing (I was never very good with it in school) so maybe I can get my ideas on paper. It's also the same reason I'm going to try my hand at drawing again. Will my artwork be up to what I see on here... likely not. But I'm not going to let that stop me from having fun with it and ready to bash and smash my computer when something goes wrong....
Timothy Albee (he's the gentleman that did Kaze Ghost Warrior) told me, you are going to do thousands of drawings before you get one that is a keeper. You are going to be training your eyes, hands, and mind to do things they are not use to doing.... So get busy and get the first thousand or so drawings out of the way.
