Chat Help - Mac

I tried to sign into chat tonight using my Mac laptop (through Firefox) and I could only type one message, but all subsequent messages I tried to send wouldn't send and the chat stopped being visible to me. It's like I'm allowed to type only 2 things before the chat freezes. Help please?

yah... Mac and Java don't always get along all that great. This is the client I used for IRC when I had my old g5 and it worked great.

The chat client hasn't changed in two years, and they are not very forthcoming on when the next one is going to be released. Considering all the updates that browsers have had in the same time, it shouldn't be surprising to me that it's starting to break.

Since you are on a Mac, I highly recommend Colloquy. It's free, and awesome.

I have the same problem, but I am using a Windows PC. I don't understand anything about 'IRCs' or 'clients'. Hahahaaa ... do you possibly know what I could do to make it better, in dumbed-down terms? =) It seems I can't switch windows or tabs or else the whole thing freezes up and I can't type anything in the chat box. If I only keep the one window open it is generally okay, but I don't like sitting there staring at the screen and waiting for people to respond, when I could be browsing in another window at the same time :P
