Anyone can post art on Jaxpad, Artspots' sister site, without having to submit a portfolio or be reviewed. Only Artspots requires an application and review. =) There is a link to Jaxpad in the bottom right corner of every Artspots page. And while all Artspots artists are also automatically on Jaxpad, the Jaxpad artists are not necessarily on Artspots as well ... as far as I know, anyway!

Sorry, to clarify, I was asking if there was any sort of review system in place where artists have to get a certain score before they are allowed to post a gallery (like there was for Yerf for example)? Even though such reviews usually consisted of very constructed criticism, adults and kids alike became discouraged or deeply insulted by them. So, if she is very young and just starting out, that would be something to consider at least. If there isn't such a system in place...then I definitely don't see any concievable problem or a reason to even hesitate having her join. :)

I saw one crit posted in someone's gallery. It was really random, and not so much a critique as it was a one-sentence criticism. But other than that, nothing. I don't know how old your cousin is, but maybe she's old enough to recognize the difference between legit critique and some POS useless criticism. Either way, if she wants to become a better artist, I think this would be a great place for her. Even if she didn't use the critique/redline forum or ask for reviews, she could read the tutorials that people have posted, and read the crits on other people's arts to learn from them.

No one HAS to be reviewed. You have to ask for it in order to be reviewed, either by posting to the "Critique and Redline" forum, the "Would This Make A Good Portfolio Piece?" forum, or submitting a portfolio for admission to ArtSpots. If she wants critiques, she can ask for help in those locations, or she can just post her art. No problem.

I'm sure it is around here somewhere, but for myself I have yet to see any actual critiques on art posted in personal galleries. I can't say the same for any other art sites I've ever perused.

I'm not quite sure how everything works, but my only concern would be if she had to be reviewed! Sometimes people just starting out in art need nothing but positive feedback, and even a well placed critique can stop people from pursuing the subject.

I too am young, and I think that this site is quite friendly... I migrated from deviantART, and this is much more child friendly. I think you cousin would like it here. Safe.

I really want to encourage her creativity, and it's really nice that this place has a rating cap so she wouldn't come across anything creepy.

Hey guys- my little cousin in showing a lot of interest in art, is there a kid-safe site where she could upload her pictures and create a gallery? I thought about bringing her here, but I'm sure she'll have some subjects other than animals to post.
Any ideas?
