Yes, I quite agree. The lines on your pic look better to me, too.

Thanks so much for redlining, I really appreciate it!

I'll get back to you with the updated image as soon as possible.

<img src="http://www.artspots.com/files/user_pic/file/176/small/Avatar_Jasper.jpg" style="padding:5px;float:left;">Alright, since you asked for more, I went ahead and took it into Photoshop to play around with the head size. I think I may have jumped to the wrong conclusion on the closest wolf, as the cranium seems about right (Not as tall as a human's would be, but it can't be as tall as a human's and still look like a wolf if you compare the skulls - it is about as wide though when excluding the muzzle).
I think it is the muzzle that is too large, as it appears from his eye and the angle of the rest of the head that he is looking at the human prisoner. At that angle, the muzzle should be shorter (foreshortened some). I drew two versions from google wolf refs - one where I kept the eye where your eye was (which makes for a very straight, vertical, position) and one where I kept the muzzle tip where your original muzzle was (this makes him leaning his head forward a little). In both the brow over the eye is not quite as shallow as yours.

The far wolf, on the other hand, has a head that really is too big I think. I shrunk it in red to show you what seemed a more proportionate size (to me at least).

Oh and the tail - I thought it looked a little like a boneless tail hanging from his rear than an active part of the body. Also tail position is important in wolves and the only time a tail is held low, close to the body (or tucked between the legs) is in a submissive stance. And this guy is not being submissive.

Hope this helps a little...sorry that I did not take a closer look the first time!

<img src="http://www.artspots.com/files/user_pic/file/1019/small/kunacon2.png" style="padding:5px;float:left;">Thanks, Vizon!

I've done some correcting on the image sense my last post, but I can't remember if I made the head any smaller. When I get home, I'll post an updated picture.

I don't know if I'll be able to backtrack on the wolf for the time being -- it's for a project with a close due date *stress stress*. If I get the chance and time, though, I'll see what I can do. Are you suggesting something on the lines of a simple resizing (not so simple in application, but you know that)? Anything else that you see could be ammended?

<img src="http://www.artspots.com/files/user_pic/file/176/small/Avatar_Jasper.jpg" style="padding:5px;float:left;">I like your sketch a lot - especially the <a href="http://www.iansmith.co.uk/image/blog/March2007/PanLabyrinth_3.jpg">'30's gangster look</a> of the closest wolf guy. His head though - it seems very very big in comparison to his body. It would seem more anatomically correct if it was just a little bit closer to human proportion since his body is almost fully human in its form. As it is, it almost seems like a costume - because a human head would fit inside that head quite easily.

I rotated the wolf's shoulder back some, repositioned his fore ear and gave it a general adjustment as well as, obviously, some color. The minions also got some twinking, too.

That's what happens when you don't work with both layers that you need, hm... Yep.

I worked on the pic some more today (at school -- better tablets, there :P)

Here's some skeleton work for the main wolf: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y232/Kattadin/APaA/wolfcopy2.png

And here's the better sketch that came out of that. The dark blue is the original head.

Good luck, it looks like it will be an interesting piece!

I don't feel skilled enough to redline the characters, but I hope the doors you at least find helpful. =)

<img src="http://www.artspots.com/files/user_pic/file/1525/small/closedaccounticon.jpg" style="padding:5px;float:left;">I'll be the first to admit that I'm not very good when it comes to red lining work. That being said, though, I think perhaps I could offer a thought or two that might help.

I would suggest going back in and drawing in the full rib cage of the wolf, as well as the spine and even throw in his hips a bit. I think it would help you feel and see your wolf in more of a 3-Dimensional light. I sometimes do this when working with perspective. I also find that if I'm struggling with the rib cage that pulling a glass cup off the shelf and examining it (sort of 'taking in' its full shape in space) helps get my mind on tact to where it needs to be. It's easy to look at some much flat art that your brain kind of 'flattens' out and giving it some core exercises in 'seeing' 3D objects jump starts it.

I hope that I have helped. Good luck!

<img src="http://www.artspots.com/files/user_pic/file/1019/small/kunacon2.png" style="padding:5px;float:left;">So I've got this mental picture and it's all cool-like and fits in with the theme for my portfoliothing, but I didn't take into account that I never really learned #-point perspective and that I've got a nice, strange angle for the door and the subjects of said picture.

And so I have a problem... Right now, my main concern is getting the first wolf (the closest one) to look right. I can't get the perspective/position right on his back and arm, and I don't have any one to pose for me. The idea is that he's against the door, his arm out to usher the man and his "escorts" in, but he's not entirely leaning on it.

I'm not concerned about the minion wolves (general term for caninewhatsits) -- they'll be getting a makeover on Monday -- same placement, just better tuned.

That's all I have to say at the moment. The first pic is what I have now, the other a "skeleton" of the first wolf, a vague rendering of where I want him to be.
