Question about Late Order - Kynliod

<img src="http://www.artspots.com/files/user_pic/file/3033/small/digitalkyn.jpg" style="padding:5px;float:left;">So... July now, and *still* nothing. I am so frustrated!

ETA: Hang on, in my order status is listed as "printed"--I hope that means this is about to be resolved!

<img src="http://www.artspots.com/files/user_pic/file/3033/small/digitalkyn.jpg" style="padding:5px;float:left;">Yeah, thanks again Karu. I haven't emailed them since the times I mentioned earlier, still just waiting. What else can one do? Hope whatever it is gets resolved soon. Not just for my own personal agenda, but for the sake of Artspots too. It's my favorite art site, I'd rather not see something bad happen to it.

<img src="http://www.artspots.com/files/user_pic/file/3057/small/notalope.jpg" style="padding:5px;float:left;">Well I do know the one with the prints printer is the one whom is STILL awol atm :/ It's unusual for him to vanish this long mean eventually found out about the move, was about for a bit then disappeared again. I've not heard of anything either it's like most of the other voluntary staff have vanished as well sides from Toulouse, even Babbage has.

I think it may be wiser to hold off for the time being and have no doubt whenever he does resurface they will all be done it's just a case of when. I very much doubt it's been done delibrately so I can only assume something has happened (Internet related or veyr much hopefully not worse) unless work has really time ate. He hasn't posted on his LJ either since March. Still will yell soona s I find anything but :/

<img src="http://www.artspots.com/files/user_pic/file/210/small/spots.jpg" style="padding:5px;float:left;">I'd like to know what's going on too. I've sent two messages through the contact forms with no response whatsoever; it's been weeks. I just need to know if I can get my high resolution print copies from ArtSpots, the ones I uploaded, since some of them aren't anywhere else due to a hard drive meltdown.

Something like that. its a weird system that doesn't automatically update itself it's manual. Hope that eases your mind a bit.

<img src="http://www.artspots.com/files/user_pic/file/3222/small/kotty_muir_avatar.jpg" style="padding:5px;float:left;">Totally agree with you, Kyn. The details need to be on the site. Both for us and the customers.

I'm going to get a 6 month membership between now and August and take advantage of the $250 membership credit. See how long it takes for me to get that many prints. lol.

Seriously though. This is a site run by volunteers. Maybe they need to hire someone to take care of the printing part? At least that way customers wont be disappointed in the service. Not only does the wait make this site look bad, but it also makes the artist who is selling the print look bad by proxy.

This IS a great site. The community is wonderful, the layout is user friendly, and the artist's cut on the prints is the fairest I've seen online. Let's just hope that this is due to Seurat's move back in April and everything will be back on track really soon.

Question about Late Order - Kynliod

<img src="http://www.artspots.com/files/user_pic/file/3033/small/digitalkyn.jpg" style="padding:5px;float:left;">My other concern is that in the prints tab, it's still listed as 0 prints sold, and my balance is still at $0. I haven't been able to figure out how the money part of it works. No replies to emails about that either, and I've scoured the website looking for information on this, with no luck.

I love artspots, and I'm reluctant to bring this stuff up because I truly think this is the best art community I've been able to find in terms of help offered/received, friendliness, and simple enjoyment. I like the layout. I just like the website a ton! And the way they've worked out the print system is remarkably generous! The volunteer aspect is amazing. But I can't help but wonder if they've piled too much on their plate with some of this stuff.

I was reluctant to bring this to the boards, but I'm being pushed by my customer about it, and what I need most right now is just some answer I can offer them. I think some web merchants take this long, but people are so used to receiving their order in a week's time that when they have to wait this long, and see no changes on the "progress" page of their order, it makes them freak out a little.

One suggestion to the staff--if you guys usually take 6-8 weeks or whatever it may be, post it in a very visible area of the print order page. If people know this stuff in advance they're more likely to be patient about the order.

<img src="http://www.artspots.com/files/user_pic/file/3222/small/kotty_muir_avatar.jpg" style="padding:5px;float:left;">Again? Ugh. >_<

I do know that alot of places say 4-6 weeks for delivery. It could be the case here as well. If 6 weeks has come and gone and still no print...

Let's just say that this site has lost alot of custom. I was going to hold a fund raiser in Sept-Dec for my local autism support group by selling prints of my art here. (All of my share would have gone to the charity) Now, I'm REALLY hesitant to direct people to this site - both artists AND customers. And I think I'm going to look for another site to sell my prints from. It's a shame, as this is the most fair site around as far as the artist's cut. But if people arent getting their prints, then what can you do?

Please keep us posted on this Kyn. Hopefully it's the "4-6 weeks" that I mentioned at the start.

<img src="http://www.artspots.com/files/user_pic/file/3033/small/digitalkyn.jpg" style="padding:5px;float:left;">Hey, sorry to revive this thread, but I am just wondering what is a reasonable expectation. I ordered a print over a month ago, and someone I know ordered a print from me about a week or so later. That person is starting to get antsy about the fact the print has not arrived, and the status is still labeled under "processing". Mine is in "processing" still as well. I've sent messages, but no replies. I understand it's voluntary and there's a lot going on, but what I mostly would like is an explanation or some updates on when I should expect to actually see the print arrived (same for my friend). I'm a little impatient, but mostly don't mind waiting. But my friend is getting a little frustrated over the fact that I can't tell her more than "I don't know," about the progress of her order. =/

<img src="http://www.artspots.com/files/user_pic/file/2818/small/July_29-08_SunCat2.jpg" style="padding:5px;float:left;">Well, I'm not sure. When I look at your gallery you have friends and favs and when I look at mine I don't. So I think that might just be a logged in thing. Also some people don't have artists they are watching or might not even have favorites so then they wouldn't be there if they don't have them. I don't think it is a payed feature.

You can find your favorites and 'watching' artists when your logged in if you click on My home tab and look for the tabs with favorites or watching below it.

Hope that helps.

Is it a paid feature? Is it because I'm logged in and looking at my own page? Is there a setting somewhere I've missed?

Halp! And thanks in advance! I feel so very silly.

Low-cost Poster Prints - Muir

<img src="http://www.artspots.com/files/user_pic/file/3222/small/kotty_muir_avatar.jpg" style="padding:5px;float:left;">Hi Mazin! The suggested price is just that - suggested. You'll find that alot of artists charge less than that amount.
For example, I've grabbed several people from the sketchbook forum section.

Armaina has an 18"x18" print for $42
Saelyra has a 9"x12" for $15
I have several 18"x24" for less than $45

Those are just a few examples out of 1000's of artists on here. :)

You will find that not alot of artists have prints that are the size you talk about in your OP. The file size needed for something that large is very big and takes ages to upload. But, if you see something you really like, then you could always send a note to the artist asking if they could make that size available and how much they would charge. Just an idea. :)

Low-cost Poster Prints - Mazin

<img src="http://www.artspots.com/files/user_pic/file/3353/small/cloud_wuff.png" style="padding:5px;float:left;">Hi there! On another forum I frequent, a discussion was brought up asking where one could buy good Furry art posters. ArtSpots was one of the first sites to pop into my mind, but, while poster-sized prints are available, the high-quality printing used makes them quite expensive (the suggested price of a 24"x36" print is about $80-$110). Is it possible that ArtSpots could offer a cheaper option (i.e. suitable for a suggested price of $20) for poster-sized prints in the future? Obviously, the quality wouldn't be the same as the current prints, but that should be fine for something to, say, hang up in your bedroom as-is instead of something to frame and hang in your living room, right?

I'm a consumer rather than a creator of art, so maybe this sort of thing is outside the scope of this site, but I just thought I'd float the idea. :)

<img src="http://www.artspots.com/files/user_pic/file/3222/small/kotty_muir_avatar.jpg" style="padding:5px;float:left;">This is c/p from the FAQ's: "Net Terms/Consignment Buying
Paid members start out with a $250 USD credit towards buying prints on consignment with additional net terms. This means you can buy up to $250 in prints and pay for them as you sell them until the net terms are up. Great for preparing before conventions without having to worry about the up-front costs. (Also, because of con schedules, we are pretty generous with net terms, up to half a year or more.) Email prints@artspots.com if you have any questions..."

I really dont know how you get your money from print purchases, sorry. You would have to ask someone who's "been there, done that" or an admin for specifics. :)

Glad I've been some help to you, though! ^_^

But I been reading a few topics about how its been kinda sour lately. So I'll just wait.
As for putting some pics up for sale I'll do that soon!

I didn't know paid members get $250 credit. I really haven't gotten anything after I paid. xD; I guess thats a problem. Plus the other thing is, when someone does buy a print from you - does it go as store credit? or you put your paypal and it goes straight to your bank?

<img src="http://www.artspots.com/files/user_pic/file/3222/small/kotty_muir_avatar.jpg" style="padding:5px;float:left;">The print system here is easier than DA. For one, you can tell exactly what you're ordering. :P

Basically, you choose which of your pictures you want to offer as a print, the paper and the price. To order prints for yourself, they charge you the base price (their share) and give you a discount depending on how many you order. Once ordered, they ship them out to you. Simple. :P

There are however currently a few hiccups in the system. One, they dont seem to email or otherwise tell you when someone else buys a print of your work. Also, the printing system has lately been slow for some, so you will want to order your prints plenty of time in advance.

Also, I believe as a paid member you get up to $250 credit to purchase prints to sell. Which is good. :)

<img src="http://www.artspots.com/files/user_pic/file/2325/small/avatar-hamster.png" style="padding:5px;float:left;">Previously I said to use "site:artspots.com" on Google, but that will search the galleries as well (which you might want). "site:artspots.com/forum" will only search the forums.

Just for the heck of it I kifed this code off my blog and modified it slightly; it'll create a search box so you can search the ArtSpots forums. Just thought I'd post that for whoever wants to use it. :) You can replace "artspots.com/forum" with whatever you would normally put after "site:" in a Google search so you can search for other stuff too.

It is something older. The "reviewing process" is on hold. The Compagnon status and the reviewing process will either be done away with entirely, or will be started up again in the future.

I rather liked the idea of starting the process again, myself. It seems so fun that artists can move up within "ranks"! :)

I also believe that there is a "Master" status.. (higher than compagnon!), but I am unaware as to what it would take to reach that rank.
